We just returned from the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, a show where more than 15,000 people gathered at the Moscone Center to check out the newest trends in specialty food. It was wonderful seeing many of our clients as well as meeting new people.

At every show, we see both food and design trends evolve and this one was no different.

Booths were more creative than ever with lots of vintage couches, succulents, repurposed crates, and twinkle lights strung from corner to corner.

In a sea of over 180,000 products, food trends packed every busy aisle. This year coconut took over as a hot ingredient – coconut chips and coconut water are old news…there are new products taking the stage! Expect to see more coconut popcorn, coconut milk, coconut creamers, and coconut salty snacks hitting the shelves.

We can also confirm from what we saw that “organic” is the new normal. This show pushed the limit beyond the typical organic snacks and power bars. Jelly Belly launched their new line of Organic candy (jelly beans, sour jelly beans, and fruit snacks). We also saw a new line of organic energy drinks, organic stevia, and more.

Such a great show this year! We are already looking forward to the next specialty food show this Summer in NYC!
